Welcome to 21st Century dining, where we’re serving up PUR on a platter, just for her, our plastic-eating fungal starlet. She was discovered within trees in the Ecuadorian Amazon, teeming with potential. When removed from her rainforest environment, and put under the microscope, she revealed a unique characteristic: the ability to cleave polyurethane plastics and consume them entirely. She spreads, soft and supple across a sea of plastic, instinctively ingesting every last shred of her captor’s culinary offerings.
She can do it on land! She can do it at sea! She’s just what we’ve been waiting for to save us from ourselves. Come, watch her for a while while you snack from that plastic packet of crisps. In fact, you can even gobble her up when she’s finished– au natural, baby.
